Lemon Bay High School
High School is back in session for another school year, but this year is different. The new buildings are completed after a $40 million construction project and now the students can move completely across campus without going outside into the weather. The classrooms have all the most up-to-date training aids at the teachers disposal, a great gymnasium, weight room, cafeteria and theater just to name some of the features.
The Open Studio is located at 380 Old Englewood Road and provides a number of workshops designed around healthy living. Classes and workshops are provided for a variety of subjects such as Healing Arts (Yoga, Tai Chi, & Massage) , Visual Arts (Pottery. & Weaving) , Cooking & Nutrition (Vegetarian & Organic), Gardens. A Juice bar is also located on the premises;

We are passed the mid-point of the sea turtle nesting season and both Boca Grand and Manasota Key are reporting record number of nests this year, For more information about shore birds and sea turtles please look at our section about them on the website. The Blue Lagoon has closed its doors and sold all the restaurant items. According to the owner of the restaurant the owner of the building has other plans for the site. Best of luck to Bob and Peggy Laigle,
The Egg and I has reopened for breakfast and lunch and has a drive through window for coffee on the go. Located on Placida Road, south of Lemon Bay High School. Check out their website.
On August 27th the annual Chalkfest is held downtown on Dearborn Street. Kids (of all ages) get to exhibit their talents with chalk on the sidewalks. Below are some pictures of the talent.
